China output down 0.9% in August
China's crude steel output fell 0.9% to 58.75Mt in August from the previous month as several steel mills reduced production due to maintenance, official figures showed.
Production up 11.5% in July
World crude steel production was 127Mt in July, 11.5% higher than July 2010.
China’s steel output up 9.6%
China's steel output grew by 9.6% y-o-y in the first half to 350Mt, but its sales-profit ratio dropped to 2.42%, the lowest in years, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) said.
Chinese output up
China’s steel mills defied credit tightening, razor-thin margins and a possible power supply crunch to produce a record 60.25Mt in May, although daily output declined slightly.
MEPS: Global output at 1.56bnt in 2011
MEPS (International) Ltd predicts that world crude steel output will expand by 105Mt in 2011 – up 7.2% on the outturn in the previous year, to another record high.
Steel production up again
World crude steel production in June was 128Mt – up 8% from June 2010.
