Turkish steelmaker to build new 5-stand tandem mill

Tatmetal Celik San. Ve Tic AS, a Turkish steelmaker, has commissioned Italian plant builder Danieli to build a new 5-stand tandem mill and integrate it with the mill’s pickling line at the company’s Eregly facility.

The new mill will roll strip ranging from 0.2 to 3.0mm thickness and up to 1,550mm in width, according to Danieli, and will feature the company’s 6-high technology.

According to Danieli, ‘the 22,000kN separating force, together with the installed modern technologies which are standard for Danieli mills, such as roll bending and shifting, ultra-low hysteresis HAGC, lubrication and strip drying systems, and new rolling models, will allow the production of high-strength quality [steel] grades with superior strip flatness.’

Danieli Automation will be responsible for all the electrical equipment and control systems.

Plant start-up is scheduled for Q4 2019.
